How to Optimize Amazon Product Listings

Do you want your product to appear higher in Amazon search results? Simply by carefully optimizing your product listing, you can improve your ranking as well as increase traffic and sales.

What is Amazon Listing Optimization?

Amazon listing optimization is the process of improving product pages' search visibility, click-through rate (CTR), and conversion rate (CR) to generate more sales.

Keyword research, optimization of listing text and image content, and increasing the number of reviews are all part of this process.

This is one of the most important things you can do as an Amazon seller or vendor.

Amazon Ranking Improvement:

Did you know that for a product to appear in an Amazon search, its product listing must include the searched keyword? The customer will not see your product if it is not present. As a result, the first rule of keyword optimization is straightforward:

On your product page, include all relevant keywords.

Allow enough time to conduct extensive keyword research to find these relevant keywords. Utilize SellerApp's Amazon keyword research tool – it's free!

After you've completed your keyword research, you should incorporate the keywords into your product in strategic places. Consider the following points:

1. Product Title:

Include your top five keywords in the title of your product. This is no longer necessary, according to the new ranking algorithm. You can now focus more on creating a descriptive yet readable title.

2. Backend keywords:

In the "search terms" (also known as "generic keywords"), including up to 249 bytes of other important keywords. Caution: If you use more than 249 bytes, Amazon will not index these keywords (for more information on Amazon backend keywords click here).

3. Product Description and Bullet Points:

More keywords can be added here, but only if they do not interfere with the informative clarity of the product texts.

4. Other Keyword Categories:

Some products allow you to define additional keyword types, such as Target Audience. Make sure to include them in your search because Amazon filters them.

5. Additional Information:

Assign additional product information to your product, such as material type. Fill out this information as completely as possible because customers will be able to access it through the filter navigation and specific product finders.

Amazon Listing Optimization: Content Optimization

Content optimization can boost the click-through rate (CTR) in search results as well as the conversion rate (CR) on product pages. Both contribute to an increase in sales and, as a result, a higher ranking.

Consider the following two critical points to improve your content:

  • Images

  • Product Descriptions

Product Descriptions

When creating product descriptions and texts (title, bullet points, product description, EBC / A + content), keep the following principles in mind:

Provide all necessary information for the purchasing decision.

Communication: Highlight the article's benefits and USPs in the description. How do the features of your product benefit potential buyers? What exactly do they gain from them?

Present and structure information so that customers can get it quickly and easily.

Amazon Brand Registry sellers (Enhanced Brand Content) and vendors (A+ Content) have access to additional content options.

For example, an integrated modular system enables the combination of texts and images for a high-quality product description. As a result, there are significantly more options for showcasing products and brands and utilizing cross-selling.

When optimizing Amazon product listing content, keep in mind how it will appear on mobile devices. Because the text is much shorter, the most important information should always be listed first.

Product Image Optimization for Amazon Listings

The images of a product are the first thing a customer looks at. As a result, they place a high value on the CTR and CR:

Main image:

This is relevant for CTR and CR. The main image may only represent the core product and must strictly adhere to Amazon's minimum requirements. The product must be visually appealing, easily identifiable, and well-lit.

Additional photos:

This is important for CR. With additional images, you have more design options. Use them to highlight a product's distinguishing features.

Different angles of use and benefits, embedding in the environment, lifestyle, and social interaction, proportions, special features and benefits, details, and packaging are some important examples.
